Flying In The Wind

Today during work I had a lot of time to think about things.  I only helped 15 customers over the course of 8 hours so I definitely had my share of free time.  It was a really windy day today and so everything seemed unsettled.  The biggest thing I noticed though was the fact that none of the birds could fly very well at all.  None of them could go the direction they wanted to go and had to settle for something different.  I decided that their plight was just like pursuing a dream.  You go for one and for some reason outside forces cause you to sway away from what you want.  

The birds were smart though.  They used the wind and their own cunning to get to where they wanted to go.  I would like to believe that humans are smart too, and that we can use what we have to achieve greatness.  

To anyone who actually read this, if you want something…go for it.  Really.

Dexter Gordon transcription, keyboard audits, singing audits, sight singing/solfege practice, analyzing random piece by Bach, analyzing Miles Davis’ solo in So What, practicing solo lit, practicing sax choir lit, MacGamut, getting ready for NJO Young Artist finals, going over changes in Big Band songs.

I kind of just want to play Star Fox on the N64.

We always lose the strongest people

I can’t believe Andy’s gone.  I still can’t believe Emily Johnson is gone, and that happened two and a half years ago.  They were both among the happiest people I’ve ever gotten to know.  Life is so fragile.  Make sure to tell the people you love that you love them.  Sometimes those simple words mean everything.
